The Novice Calling Circuit

The ICA Novice Calling Circuit exists to bridge the gap between a beginning novice caller and pro level callers.

  • • All contests will be a 90 second meat style duck, mainstreet duck routine and goose routine in the standard calling contests formats.

    • The contestant who draws #1 will call twice in round. The caller that draws #1 will be given what ever number is left from the draw after all other contestants have drawn their number. The #1 score will not count and the second score will always count.

    • All contestants will blow 2 rounds with no cuts being made until round 3.

    • Winners of all contests will get free entry into the open contest that follows each novice contest.

    • All contest organizers must keep score using the Mike Eddy Spreadsheet.
    - They must submit results to the ICA board after contest completion.
    - In addition to results, list of judges must be submitted as well.

  • • Anyone who has won an open contest in the past 3 years that had 2 pro callers in it.
    • Anyone who has ever placed top 5 in the World Duck Calling Contest In Stuttgart, Arkansas.
    • Anyone who has ever placed top 5 in the World Goose Calling Contest or World Meat Duck Calling Championship in Easton, Maryland.

  • There are multiple ways a novice caller moves on to the pro circuit:

    • If a caller wins 5 novice contests in a single calendar year.
    • If a caller wins 5 total novice contests.
    • If a caller makes top 5 in any of the World Championships.
    • If a caller wins an open contest with 2 or more current pros competing, it shall count as 2 novice wins.

State specific contest that only allow residents of the state to compete do not count against your novice totals.
